Roller Coaster Stuck Upside Down

Roller Coaster Stuck Upside Down

At a carnival in Wisconsin on Monday, a roller coaster experienced technical failure, leaving eight thrill seekers dangling upside down for hours.

At the Forest County Festival in Crandon, roughly 100 miles northwest of Green Bay, a Fireball roller coaster malfunctioned near the top of a loop, trapping the passengers inside, according to local authorities.

Emergency services were called to the festival site at the Crandon International Offroad Raceway just after 1:30 p.m. local time, according to Brennan Cook, chief of the Crandon Fire Department.

About two hours later, the first trapped person was released, and the final one was brought down well before 5 o'clock. Medical personnel treated nine patients on-site, and one was transferred to a hospital, according to the authorities.

"Due to the height of the ride, specialised technical rescue teams and mutual aid equipment were needed to remove riders from ride," Mr. Cook added.

Social media videos showed a rescuer climbing the edge of the disabled ride while the passengers' hands were turned upside down.

Firefighters from three districts and search and rescue teams were enlisted to assist.

The Crandon Fire Department was given advice on potential rescue strategies by an off-duty firefighter with specialised rope rescue training who just so happened to be on the spot, Mr. Cook continued.

A ladder truck from the City of Antigo in Langlade eventually showed there and was able to reach the passengers.

The stranded passengers and rescuers were roped together during the rescue, Antigo Fire/EMS's Erica Kostichka reported WAOW.

According to Ms. Kostichka, "Our department has never encountered a situation like we did yesterday."

Where was the roller coaster accident in Wisconsin?

Visitors to the Crandon, Wisconsin, fair were placed in a scary situation on Sunday after a malfunction caused riders to become stranded upside down for many hours.

Why don't I get thrown off an upside-down roller coaster?

The answer is that inertia prevents you from slipping out. Resistance to a direction shift is known as inertia. It maintains your pressure against the car's floor with a force greater than gravity.

How did the girl involved in the roller coaster accident fare?

The 26-year-old Melbourne lady was struck by a rollercoaster travelling at 70 km/h last month and is still in critical condition. The event left Ms. Rodden with numerous fractured bones and significant brain damage, but this didn't stop the comedians from making fun of her plight.
